Job Description

Industrial HVAC Technician – Fluor (Rand Whitney Containerboard Mill – Montville, CT)

Pay: $34–$40/hr (based on experience) 
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. 
Facility: Heavy industry, 24/7 operation


Fluor is looking for an experienced Industrial HVAC Technician to support operations at the Rand Whitney Containerboard paper mill in Montville, CT. This is a hands on role in a heavy industry environment where reliability, safety, and teamwork matter every day.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on all HVAC systems throughout the mill
  • Read and work from blueprints, P&IDs, ladder logic, wiring diagrams, and single line drawings
  • Troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems, glycol loops, air makeup units, and plant exhaust equipment
  • Use diagnostic tools such as multimeters, amprobes, RTD/mA/T C calibrators, and laptops for system communication
  • Work closely with E&I technicians when needed
  • Follow step by step calibration and startup procedures
  • Enter work orders, parts, and PM data into the CMMS (Maximo)
  • Troubleshoot 480V 3 phase motor starter circuits and 120/24V control circuits
  • Diagnose control issues using your understanding of PLC logic and operation
  • Work with equipment such as:
    • Rosemount temperature transmitters
    • ASCO solenoids
    • Pressure and flow limit switches

Job Requirements

What You Bring

  • High school diploma or GED
  • S 2 license preferred, or a 2 year HVAC certificate/trade school equivalent
  • 4+ years of HVAC experience (industrial experience a plus)
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with 24V and 120V control circuits
  • Familiarity with PLCs (Allen Bradley, GE Fanuc)
  • Ability to follow strict safety procedures, including Lock Tag Try and confined space protocols
  • Detail oriented mindset and willingness to document work properly
