OBJECTIVE

The BSA/AML Specialist is responsible for conducting advanced and more complex BSA/AML investigations and regulatory reporting. This role independently manages higher‑risk alerts and cases, provides risk‑based determinations, and ensures regulatory requirements are met across CTR, SAR, OFAC, and law enforcement requests. The Specialist II also supports quality control, mentoring, and continuous improvement efforts within the BSA/AML program.

 

ONBOARDING AND TRAINING

  • Telecommuting available after initial training.
  • After initial training, this position is mostly remote; scheduled to work in the in Moon Township approximately 1 day every quarter, based on operational needs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate’s Degree, completion of a specialized course of study, or equivalent experience required 
  • 5-8 years of progressive BSA/AML, or financial crime experience
  • BSA/AML certification required or obtained within first year
  • Advanced knowledge of BSA/AML, OFAC, and USA PATRIOT Act regulations
  • Experience with BSA/AML monitoring software and investigative tools, ideally NICE Actimize.
  • Strong analytical, investigative, and risk‑assessment skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to work independently while supporting team objectives
  • Demonstrates responsible use of AI tools to enhance investigative efficiency and accuracy

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

1. Advanced Transaction Monitoring, Investigations & Decision Authority – 40% 

  • Conduct independent investigation of higher‑risk and more complex BSA/AML alerts.
  • Determine when activity warrants SAR filing, escalation, or risk‑mitigation actions, and finalize SAR decisions within delegated authority.
  • Independently analyzes complex transaction patterns across multiple accounts, products, or time periods to assess risk and intent.
  • Perform enhanced due diligence and holistic reviews of member activity.
  • Monitor and manage complex high‑risk member relationships.
  • Identifies emerging trends or patterns that suggest broader or systemic risk beyond an individual relationship (including activity across multiple members, businesses, or geographic regions) and escalates those concerns to BSA leadership for enterprise‑level assessment.

2. Regulatory Reporting, Risk Assessments & Compliance – 35% 

  • Prepare, file, and validate Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs) and Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) in accordance with regulatory requirements and internal procedures, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Conduct advanced OFAC reviews, including analysis of complex matches, and resolve true and false positives in accordance with policy and escalation guidelines.
  • Respond to FinCEN 314(a) requests and complex law enforcement inquiries within assigned scope, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant responses.
  • Assist with BSA/AML and OFAC risk assessments and monitoring enhancements by providing investigative trends, data analysis, and feedback on alert performance; support system tuning and regulatory responses under the direction of BSA leadership.
  • Maintain advanced working knowledge of regulatory guidance and examination expectations as applied to SAR decisioning, OFAC review, and regulatory response activities. 

 

3. Review, Training & Procedure Support – 25%

  • Review investigative case documentation completed by BSA/AML Specialist I staff for accuracy, quality, and regulatory sufficiency, ensuring alignment with internal standards and reducing error rates.
  • Provide guidance and informal mentoring to BSA/AML Specialist I staff by explaining investigative approaches, decisioning rationale, and regulatory expectations to strengthen analytical judgment and consistency.
  • Assist with updating and maintaining daily and monthly BSA/AML procedures and reference materials to reflect operational changes, regulatory guidance, and examination feedback.
  • Participate in BSA/AML and OFAC training activities by contributing examples, case insights, and subject‑matter input, and supporting training delivery to staff as assigned.
  • Support audits, regulatory examinations, and internal reviews by preparing documentation, responding to inquiries within assigned scope, and assisting with issue resolution.
  • Adhere to all organizational policies related to information security, privacy, fraud prevention, and regulatory compliance, including completion of required training and protection of confidential information
