Summary: Assist with managing the Quality Department’s various special projects and change management initiatives. This position is responsible for understanding customer expectations and applying those requirements to internal quality processes and systems. The Quality Project Specialist supports the development and maintenance of quality programs, training systems, customer specifications, and process documentation to ensure production readiness and compliance with customer requirements. This position interacts with internal departments, customers, and vendors while supporting overall quality operations and continuous improvement initiatives.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Create Alchemy training courses and Learning Plans for the Quality Control department standard operating procedures training program.
  • Assist with the development of training materials for the Quality Control department.
  • Assist the Quality Control Management team with document review tasks as delegated.
  • Provide routine trend analysis review of QC data and create summary reports for management review.
  • Convert new Customer and new Formula requests into company formats systematically, including but not limited to Coding Theories, Line Control Reports, CoBrix/Masselli profiles, KHS recipe profiles, ETQ keyword lists, and RedZone Datasheets.
  • Assist with change management accommodations as they pertain to the Quality Control department.
  • Support implementation and maintenance of quality systems, procedures, and documentation.
  • Assist with maintaining customer specifications and ensuring internal documentation aligns with customer expectations.
  • Communicate technical information effectively with Customers, Brand Owners, and internal departments.
  • Support Continuous Improvement efforts.
  • Provide backup support for the Quality Control Manager during out-of-office periods.
  • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy of quality records, reports, and technical documentation.
  • Support compliance with all food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.

Competency and Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years in a leadership role within a Quality Control Department is required.
  • Previous experience with SAP is preferred.
  • PCQI Certification is required.
  • Must have exceptional organization skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
  • Must possess above average verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate technical information to Customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Must demonstrate thorough knowledge of production operations, quality systems, and food safety requirements.

 

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work in wet, humid, and outdoor conditions. The employee is also exposed to varying temperature extremes including heat and cold as the weather varies. The employee is occasionally exposed to work on elevated platforms, with fumes or airborne particles, or with toxic or caustic chemicals. This employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and exposed to vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The employee will regularly lift and/or move 50lbs and may occasionally lift and/or move up to 100lbs. Specific detailed vision abilities are required by this job, including Distance vision, Color Vision, Peripheral vision and Depth perception.  While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, have dexterity of hands, reach with hands and arms, and communicate.
