We design, develop, manufacture, and deliver eVTOL Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) and an ecosystem of related products and services. Our business directly addresses defense and security markets in North America, Asia Pacific, and Latin America. We currently have an opening for a well-qualified Mechanical Engineer. This position reports to the Hardware Engineering Manager.
As a Mechanical Engineer at Quantum-Systems, you will play a critical role in solving challenges within the dynamic and competitive UAS industry. In this role, you will be a creative problem solver, tackling the multi-faceted engineering challenges associated with fielding cutting edge aerial robotics. Candidates will use their technical acumen to identify, create, and advance new technologies aligned to our company's vision for UAS and Airborne Artificial Intelligence. From envisioning future warfighter needs to implementing advanced platform technologies, you will be at the forefront of Aerial Intelligence.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate as part of the Quantum-Systems engineering team.
- Lead teams to deliver project milestones in a high tempo work environment.
- Operate with minimal supervision to develop mechanical aerostructures and housings.
- Integrate unmanned system technologies such as cameras, computing systems, antennas, and robotic components.
- Lead technical mechanical integration efforts.
- Decompose the scope of an assigned project and develop corresponding concepts for hardware integration.
- Lead subsystem and low-level technical reviews.
- Travel up to 10% of the time to support business needs.
- Embody, promote, and live the Quantum Systems core principles.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Design and 4-7 years of Mechanical Concept design experience in an Aerospace environment.
- 3+ years’ experience in designing mechanical structures for robotic systems.
- Capable of working both independently and in a team environment.
- Demonstrated experience in CATIA V.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Background check required/US Citizenship required due to government contracts.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Design experience for light weight composite structures.
- Production of Manufacturing Documentation.
- Success in a startup environment demonstrating adaptability.
- Experience with Unmanned Aircraft development experience a plus.
- Ability to prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish desired results.
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and/or accomplishing them simultaneously.
- Ability to comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions.
