ES4 - Electrical (Sr. Principle)

Quantum-Systems Inc is a global leader in aerial intelligence and autonomous, AI-powered aerial robotics. We design, develop, manufacture and deliver Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) and an ecosystem of related products and services. Our business directly addresses the Defense and Security markets in North America, Asia Pacific and Latin America. We currently have an opening for a well-qualified Senior Principal Electrical Engineer. This position reports to the Hardware Engineering Manager. 


The Senior Principle Electrical Engineer (ES4) will play a critical role in solving challenges within the dynamic and competitive government UAS industry. In this role, you will be a creative problem solver, tackling the multi-faceted problems facing our various platforms and delivering cutting edge technology transforming the battlespace. Candidates will exemplify their technical acumen to identify, create and advance new technologies aligned to our company's vision for UAS and Airborne Artificial Intelligence. From envisioning future warfighter needs to executing advanced platform technologies you will be at the forefront of Aerial Intelligence. 


Responsibilities:

The Senior Principle Electrical Engineer is responsible for the following:

  • Collaborate as part of the Quantum-Systems engineering team
  • Able to lead team of to deliver project milestones in a high tempo work environment
  • Minimal Supervision to design and implement digital and analog circuits
  • Resolve complex problems during troubleshooting using industry best practices
  • Integrate unmanned system technologies such as edge computed data fusion, vision AI, teaming and payload coordination
  • Works with avionics, embedded systems, battery, and radio frequency (RF) links. Support flight test, as needed
  • Lead technical integration efforts
  • Analyze and develop Root cause corrective actions
  • Position requires travel up to 10% of the time to support business needs
  • Embody, promote, and live the Quantum Systems core principles


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 7+ years of Electrical Design experience 
  • U.S Citizenship.
  • 5+ years Experience in High Speed Digital and Analog Circuit design
  • Capable of working both independently and in a team environment
  • Experience with Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout of boards.
  • Experience in Video and Data Communications 
  • Experience with power electronics including motors and battery technologies
  • Familiarity with standard industry protocols such as I2C, CAN, Ethernet, and UART
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Background check required/US Citizenship required due to government contracts

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of Power Supply design
  • Experience with small UAS subsystems such as Motor Control, Servos, or Robotic System design
  • High Speed Communication Design
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate and test complex systems including Datalinks, Control systems and vehicles
  • Success in a startup environment demonstrating adaptability
  • Ability to prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish desired results
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and/or accomplishing them simultaneously
  • Ability to comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions
