About the Role:

  • Ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the company’s compressed air, industrial gas, central HVAC, chilled-water, fire alarm, and assigned facility support systems.
  • Perform assigned daily inspections of utility equipment and operating conditions. Record equipment status, pressure, temperature, alarms, utility readings, abnormalities, and corrective actions.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and authorized corrective maintenance on compressed-air and gas-supply equipment. Respond to equipment failures and emergency conditions in accordance with established safety and escalation procedures.
  • Troubleshoot utility equipment failures, identify root causes, recommend corrective and preventive actions, and follow identified issues through completion.
  • Develop and implement monthly maintenance and preventive-maintenance plans based on equipment condition, operating hours, manufacturer recommendations, and system reliability requirements.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection logs, equipment histories, work orders, and PM completion records.
  • Establish and maintain spare-parts requirements for utility equipment. Monitor inventory levels and update the spare-parts reserve plan monthly.
  • Support the installation, testing, commissioning, acceptance, and operator training of new utility equipment, distribution piping, air hoses, and related components.
  • Monitor compressed-air and industrial-gas consumption, maintain usage records, verify applicable charges, and assist with monthly utility-cost calculations and reporting.
  • Identify and implement technical improvements that increase system safety, reliability, energy efficiency, capacity, and maintainability.
  • Coordinate the inspection, certification, maintenance, and recordkeeping of pressure vessels and other regulated equipment in accordance with applicable requirements.
  • Support the operation and maintenance of central air-conditioning and chilled-water systems, including equipment condition monitoring, PM coordination, troubleshooting, and spare-parts management.
  • Maintain utility stations, equipment rooms, and assigned spare-parts areas in accordance with 5S and housekeeping requirements.

Fire Alarm System Responsibilities

  • Monitor fire alarm control panels and remote annunciators for alarm, supervisory, and trouble signals. Respond promptly and follow the company’s emergency response, notification, and escalation procedures.
  • Perform and document assigned visual inspections of fire alarm panels, annunciators, detectors, manual pull stations, notification appliances, duct detectors, and system communication connections.
  • Do not silence, reset, bypass, disable, or return a fire alarm system to service until the cause has been identified and the action has been authorized in accordance with company procedures.
  • Coordinate required fire alarm inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair activities with qualified service providers, EHS, Security, facility personnel, the monitoring company, and authorities having jurisdiction, as applicable.
  • Track fire alarm deficiencies, trouble conditions, inspection findings, and corrective actions through documented closure.
  • Maintain fire alarm inspection and testing reports, service records, device inventories, drawings, monitoring information, deficiency logs, and system impairment records.
  • Manage fire alarm system impairments in accordance with the approved impairment procedure, including required notifications, implementation of fire-watch measures when applicable, restoration of the system, and completion of final documentation.
  • Support fire alarm investigations, emergency drills, post-alarm reviews, and corrective-action activities.

Additional Facility Support Responsibilities

  • Support the maintenance and management of logistics doors, dock equipment, and access-control systems.
  • Support the maintenance and management of the company’s paging and emergency-notification systems.
  • Coordinate contractors and vendors performing work on assigned utility and fire alarm systems and verify that required safety procedures, permits, and work documentation are completed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Basic knowledge of utility systems including water, gas, or electrical infrastructure.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and safety regulations.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, climbing, and working in various weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical certification or vocational training related to utility systems or electrical work.
  • Experience working as a Utility Technician or in a similar role within the utilities industry.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols and regulatory compliance specific to utility operations.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools and equipment used in utility maintenance and repair.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and report issues.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform regular inspections and maintenance of utility systems such as water pipelines, gas lines, and electrical equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Diagnose and repair faults or malfunctions in utility infrastructure promptly to minimize service disruptions.
  • Respond to emergency calls related to utility outages or hazards, coordinating with relevant teams to restore services safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Assist in the installation and testing of new utility equipment and infrastructure upgrades as directed by supervisors.
