Job Description:
Job Summary
Responsible for performing administrative duties related to preparing and scheduling surgical procedures. Collaborates closely with the Surgical Nurse Navigator to ensure patients are fully prepared for the day of surgery. Coordinates communication, documentation, and logistics to support efficient surgical operations.
Essential Functions
• Coordinates and schedules surgical procedures and post-operative follow-up visits.
• Acts as a liaison between patients, clinical staff, and healthcare providers to ensure understanding and confidence in services.
• Maintains confidential medical records and ensures timely delivery of documents to the surgical department.
• Notifies Patient Financial Services of upcoming procedures and collaborates to ensure patient understanding of financial obligations.
• Communicates effectively with internal and external department customers.
• Utilizes resources and equipment to enhance communication among clinical staff, ancillary departments, anesthesia, and medical staff.
• Responds to orientation and developmental needs of assigned staff.
• Provides operational oversight within the department.
• Collaborates with Pre-Admit Testing Department to ensure patient readiness for surgery.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Education Requirement
High school diploma or equivalent and vocational/technical training in a designated technical area
Experience Requirement
2-5 years of experience in a healthcare, clinical setting, or a relevant area
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
All experience must be paid and in the same related field.
Part-time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week.
Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted.
