Description

 The Quality Technician II performs hands-on inspection and testing of wire harness and cable assemblies in accordance with IPC/WHMA-A-620 and customer-specific requirements. Responsibilities include blueprint interpretation, FAIR/PPAP support, NCR documentation, and quality data entry using Microsoft Excel and internal systems. 


 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Blueprint & Drawing Interpretation: Read, interpret, and apply engineering drawings, schematics, and assembly blueprints to verify product conformance at each stage of production
  • FAIR & PPAP Support: Assist in the preparation, coordination, and documentation of First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) packages in accordance with customer and industry requirements
  • In-Process Inspection: Verify conformance during various assembly stages using approved inspection criteria and work instructions
  • Final Inspection: Ensure completed assemblies meet all specifications and customer requirements prior to shipment
  • Testing: Utilize handheld tools and test equipment to perform resistance, continuity, and basic electrical checks
  • Non-conformance Documentation: Identify, document, and log quality issues utilizing NCR forms; support root cause and corrective action processes as required
  • Work Order Review: Confirm traveler steps, engineering drawings, BOMs, and materials align with production requirements
  • Data Entry & Reporting: Utilize computer systems and Microsoft Excel to record inspection data, track non-conformances, generate quality reports, and maintain accurate documentation
  • Safety Compliance: Perform all duties in a safe manner, adhering to established safety protocols and company policies
  • Additional Duties: Undertake any other related duties as assigned


Requirements

 

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprint drawings, engineering schematics, and assembly documentation
  • Experience supporting FAIR and PPAP documentation and submissions
  • Familiar with harness specs, BOMs, and assembly drawings
  • Working knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620 Class 2 standards
  • Understands ISO 9001 traceability and nonconformance processes
  • Proficient in computer operation and Microsoft Excel for data entry, tracking, and reporting
  • High school diploma or GED required

Experience:

  • 1–3 years in a QA, quality inspection, or electrical/mechanical inspection role
  • Prior experience with FAIR, PPAP, or first article processes required

 

Working Environment 

Work requires physical effort divided primarily between periods of standing, walking, and sitting. The work is performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment. Lifting from 25 to 50 lbs. on an occasional basis is required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Other physical demands include crouching, bending over and reaching.
