What are we looking for?

The Staff Civil Engineer - Construction is responsible for performing a variety of testing, project specific observations and site assessment duties under general supervision and/or from detailed controlled procedures. 

Salary & Benefits Information

The base wage or salary range for this position is $70,000 - $90,000. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons. What you’ll do:

  • Provide support in geotechnical field investigations, including logging of soils borings, performing percolation testing, and conducting soils strength testing
  • Assist in preparing cost estimates and proposals
  • Perform engineering analysis under the guidance of a professional engineer
  • Review project plans and specifications prepared by others
  • Attend client site meetings and communicate effectively with client and project teams
  • Perform testing and inspection tasks in the field and laboratory regularly
  • Operate testing equipment, conduct testing, and provide assessment of data through reporting
  • May manage projects, train and oversee technicians, and review field and lab data

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from accredited engineering / ABET School required
  • Knowledge in civil engineering fundamentals and soil mechanics
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal & written communication
  • Ability to periodically work off shifts and overtime
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable driving record required
  • Ability to lift, move, push, and pull 30 to 50 pounds frequently. Occasionally, over 50 pounds with assistance
  • Ability to kneel and squat occasionally
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (hot and cold)
  • Ability to climb and work at heights occasionally
  • May travel overnight occasionally
  •  

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Engineer-in-Training Certificate is highly preferred
  • Ability to obtain a PE within 6 months preferred
  • 3 to 5 years of construction materials testing, or geotechnical engineering experience is highly preferred
