Role Impact

The Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in keeping the Morganton site operating safely, reliably, and efficiently. This position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing plant equipment, instrumentation, and control systems to ensure uninterrupted production and safe operations. Your work directly impacts plant safety, environmental compliance, equipment reliability, and production uptime. You are a hands-on problem solver who identifies issues early, supports continuous improvement, and partners closely with operations and site leadership to keep the plant running at a high level every day.Â
What You Will Do

Drive Safe & Compliant MaintenanceÂ
- Perform maintenance work in full compliance with site safety procedures, permits, and safe work practicesÂ
- Actively participate in incident investigations, safety audits, inspections, and PSM/PHA activitiesÂ
- Identify and correct unsafe conditions quickly to prevent incidentsÂ
- Support emergency response activities and preparedness drillsÂ
- Maintain strong housekeeping standards—understanding that a clean plant is a safe plantÂ
Â
Ensure Equipment Reliability & UptimeÂ
- Install, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain process equipment, instrumentation, and control systemsÂ
- Execute preventative maintenance (PM) and corrective work to improve equipment availability and reliabilityÂ
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and instrumentation issues and implement effective repairsÂ
- Identify recurring problems and recommend permanent solutions to reduce downtimeÂ
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to support unplanned maintenance needs and equipment outagesÂ
Â
Support Production & Quality PerformanceÂ
- Partner with operations to resolve equipment-related production or quality issuesÂ
- Ensure equipment is maintained and configured to consistently produce on-spec productÂ
- Participate in investigations of quality incidents and support corrective actionsÂ
- Apply strong process knowledge to anticipate risks and prevent future failuresÂ
Â
Execute Work Management & DocumentationÂ
- Plan, coordinate, and complete work orders and PM inspections in SAPÂ
- Build and maintain equipment history, technical files, and as-built documentationÂ
- Coordinate with vendors to identify parts, support repairs, and ensure timely material availabilityÂ
- Assist with maintenance planning, shutdowns, and outage activitiesÂ

Build Team Capability & AccountabilityÂ
- Share technical knowledge and support training of new maintenance employeesÂ
- Help develop, improve, and update maintenance procedures and standard workÂ
- Support continuous improvement efforts and promote accountability across the siteÂ
- Step up during unplanned outages to coordinate work and maintain productivityÂ

Required Qualifications
Â
- High School Diploma or GEDÂ
- Minimum of 5 years of industrial maintenance experience (mechanical, electrical, and/or instrumentation)Â
- Strong mechanical aptitude with experience troubleshooting industrial equipmentÂ
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and instrumentation schematicsÂ
- Working knowledge of SAP or similar maintenance management systemsÂ
- Strong safety awareness and ability to work in a chemical manufacturing environmentÂ
- Ability to lift up to 55 lbs, work at heights, enter confined spaces, and wear required PPEÂ
- Team-oriented mindset with strong ownership and accountabilityÂ
- Willingness and ability to rotate on-call coverage for nights, weekends, and holidays, including responding to emergency call-ins as requiredÂ
Preferred Qualifications
Â
- Chemical or process manufacturing experienceÂ
- Pipefitting, conduit installation, and millwright experienceÂ
- Instrumentation and control systems troubleshooting experienceÂ
- Forklift certification or experienceÂ
- Vocational or post-secondary technical educationÂ
- Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and recommend improvementsÂ
