Position Summary:Â
The Skid Steer Helper/Operator supports maintenance and facility operations by safely operating skid steer equipment and assisting with general labor tasks. This role is responsible for material handling, cleanup, and ensuring efficient movement of materials throughout the facility and grounds.Â
Position Responsibilities:
- Operate skid steer equipment to move materials, debris, and supplies as neededÂ
- Assist with loading, unloading, and transporting materials across the facilityÂ
- Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance on skid steer equipment (fueling, cleaning, checking fluids, etc.)Â
- Follow all safety procedures and ensure proper use of equipment at all timesÂ
- Assist maintenance team with general labor tasks, including cleanup, organizing, and site preparationÂ
- Remove waste, scrap, and debris from production and outdoor areasÂ
- Support facility upkeep, including snow removal, landscaping, or lot maintenance as neededÂ
- Communicate equipment issues or safety concerns to supervisor promptlyÂ
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
Essential Skills and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED preferredÂ
- Previous experience operating skid steer or similar heavy equipment preferredÂ
- Basic knowledge of equipment safety and maintenance proceduresÂ
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a teamÂ
- Strong attention to safety and detailÂ
- Valid driver’s license may be required
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical labor for extended periodsÂ
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 poundsÂ
- Ability to climb in and out of equipment multiple times per shiftÂ
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditionsÂ
- Good hand-eye coordination and depth perceptionÂ
- Industrial and outdoor work environmentÂ
- Exposure to dust, noise, and varying weather conditionsÂ
- Operation of heavy machinery and moving equipmentÂ
- May require early mornings, evenings, or weekend work depending on business needsÂ
- Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots, and hearing protection
