Mercy Hospital is an 82 bed, acute care hospital located in the scenic southwestern Colorado town of Durango. The Safety Officer will develop, coordinate, and monitor programs to assure compliance with requirements of The Joint Commission Environment of Care (EC) and Emergency Management (EM), OSHA (e.g. hazard communication, injury investigations, and injury reduction efforts), and NFPA (e.g. life safety education, fire drills, and compliance assistance and documentation review). Will also serve as the on-site security contact and facility contract liaison.

 

Job Requirements

In addition to bringing humankindness to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:

 

-Three to five years of experience in Emergency Management, Occupational Safety, and/or Fire Safety.

-One year within a healthcare organization Experience in comprehending, interpreting and implementing the requirements of regulatory agencies such as OSHA, TJC, State health statutes regulating Safety and Environmental Health Strong Interpersonal Skills with ability to communicate with all staff, including executives. 

-Associate Degree (in the Safety/Safety Management or equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered).
