As an Underwriting Operations (UW Ops) Team Lead, you will mentor UW Ops Associates, Specialists, and Analysts to ensure they are trained to provide exceptional service.  You are a subject matter within your unit and trusted by your teammates and partners to deliver.  You leverage expertise in the underwriting process and develop an in-depth understanding of business needs to ensure your team delivers superior service and quality with scale and efficiency.  Using your knowledge and influence to continuously improve processes while motivating and developing your team is critical to success.  In this role, you will process work as necessary, but with a greater emphasis on management oversight over time.   This is an exciting stage in your career as you further develop your operations management skills.  
 
Responsibilities:

  • Ensure your team is operating within SLAs (service level agreements) for vertical stakeholders.

  • Manage and monitor your teams’ work queues to balance workload and meet SLAs.

  • Act as key liaison between UW and Operations to disseminate new (or evolving) product and procedure information, answer questions and coordinate or handle rush requests.  

  • Lead development and testing in launch of new products and/or sub-verticals.

  • Troubleshoot system errors and act as first line of support for system processing questions, working with the team to achieve resolution, advocating and escalating as necessary

  • Motivate team members through positive communication and feedback to ensure exceptional service

  • Lead special projects at the request of, and serve as backup for, operations management

  • Assign appropriate resources to assist with UAT as necessary

  • Challenge Status quo – always seeking ways to improve efficiency while positively impacting CX.

  • Lead the performance review and professional development process of your team to ensure quality production, growth, retention, and professional satisfaction

  • Various administrative tasks including but not limited to approving of timecards if/as necessary

 
Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of commercial rating experience with all lines of business

  • In-depth knowledge of underwriting support systems, procedures, documentation, applicable insurance products and sub-verticals within commercial property and casualty sphere

  • Excellent communication, planning & organizational skills

  • Analytical skills to identify, gather, and organize information and provide recommendations

  • Innovative spirit to actively seek out new opportunities and to improve processes.

  • Ability to create a positive team environment and successfully coordinate the work activities.

  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office products, Excel and Word

**This is not a remote position. The role is required to be onsite on our hybrid work schedule in our Morristown, NJ office.**

Salary range specific to for this role : $67,000-$90,000 + discretionary incentive bonus + benefits depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, experience, and qualifications.  In addition, employees are eligible for standard benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental and retirement.
