Coaction Specialty Insurance is offering an exciting opportunity to entrepreneurial and ambitious college students interested in an actuarial career. Coaction’s Actuarial department works with internal customers across a wide range of all lines of business, helping them to keep the big picture in focus while being able to dive into unique and complex business challenges.  You will draw upon your strong mathematic, technical, and problem-solving skills to analyze data while learning about the Property & Casualty industry and insurance company operations.  You will have the opportunity to work individually and collaboratively with actuaries as well across various areas that may include such areas as underwriting, claims, and/or corporate risk management.
Responsibilities (varies depending on area):
Assist actuaries with reserving, pricing, catastrophe modeling, or capital modeling initiatives
Research industry and competitor results for benchmarking
Develop price monitoring capabilities
Assemble, verify, and analyze exposures used for catastrophe modeling Â
Document all new processes (as well as existing ones to the extent they are incorporated in role)
Reconcile final dataset outputs to ensure no coding or system errors
Qualifications:
Eligible candidates MUST be rising juniors with a targeted graduation date of May 2028 (2026, 2027, or 2029 graduates will not be eligible).
Students must currently be in pursuit of their Bachelor’s Degree in business, finance or a related field
Students with strong analytical skills and a solid mathematical framework
Proficiency in Excel
SQL coding experience preferred
Experience in working with databases
Determination to learn new technical skills
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Effective oral and written communication skills
Embraces new challenges and develops innovative solutions to problems
Strong sense of curiosity
Actively pursuing the actuarial exams with preferably at least one exam passed
Minimum GPA of 3.5
Important Notes:
Coaction's internship program does NOT offer remote work. Our internship roles are 5 days a week in our Morristown office.Â
Candidates must live local to the Morristown, NJ area as we do not provide relocation assistance and require in office attendance. Our internship program will take place Summer 2027 from June-August.
