Plant Controller
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Plant Controller to serve as the financial leader for our manufacturing facility. This individual will play a key role in supporting plant operations by providing financial insight, driving cost improvement initiatives, and ensuring the accuracy of plant financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have experience in manufacturing finance, cost accounting, inventory management, and business partnering with operational leadership teams. This is a great opportunity for someone with years of Cost Accountant experience to progress into a Controller role.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary finance partner for plant leadership, providing financial guidance to support operational and strategic decision-making.
- Analyze manufacturing costs, labor utilization, overhead spending, and production efficiencies to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities for the facility.
- Prepare and present financial performance reports, dashboards, and key operational metrics.
- Manage product costing, standard cost updates, inventory valuation, and inventory control processes.
- Monitor manufacturing variances and provide actionable recommendations to improve profitability and operational performance.
- Support annual budgeting, monthly forecasting, and long-term financial planning initiatives.
- Oversee capital project financial tracking, fixed assets, and depreciation reporting.
- Partner with operations, supply chain, and production teams to improve inventory management and working capital performance.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and accounting standards.
- Coordinate audit activities and assist with SOX compliance requirements.
- Mentor and develop plant accounting personnel while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 8+ years of accounting and finance experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience in a Plant Controller, Manufacturing Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory accounting, standard costing, and manufacturing KPIs.
- Experience supporting plant operations through financial analysis and performance reporting.
- Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyze large data sets.
- Experience working within ERP systems; Oracle experience is a plus.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA and/or CMA certification.
- Experience supporting multi-site manufacturing operations.
- Experience in lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, or operational finance initiatives.
- Proven ability to drive cost savings and process improvements.

This is a Permanent position based out of Morristown, TN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $57.69 - $67.31/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
