Temple B'nai Or, a thriving and growing Reform synagogue in Morristown, NJ, is seeking a warm, creative, and energetic Jewish teacher to lead a pilot, daily aftercare program (3:45 – 5:45 p.m.) for preschool-aged children using art as a hands-on approach to Jewish learning.

The Pre-School of Temple B'nai Or has been in existence since 1966 and is known for its outstanding standard of excellence. The Pre-School is also a proud partner of the Morris School District Universal Preschool Program.

This is a Monday to Friday position for 2 hours in the afternoon plus one Friday program per month till 6:30 p.m.

 Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead joyful, engaging, art-based afterschool program for young children
  • Use hands on crafts, movement, and drama to enhance learning
  • Create a warm, nurturing, and joyful classroom environment
  • Encourage creativity, curiosity, and positive social interaction
  • Maintain classroom organization and supervision during program hours
  • Build relationships with students and families
  • Plan the curriculum to feed into the monthly Shabbat experience/Torah Explorers B'Yachad
  • Participate in training program for this new curriculum

Qualifications

  • Experience working with preschool-aged children
  • Experience in childcare, summer camp or preschool program
  • Background in Jewish education or strong knowledge of Judaics
  • Passion for theater art, creativity, and hands-on teaching
  • Warm, patient, and dependable personality
  • Must have permission to work in the US
  • Background check is required.
