Schneider Electric is seeking a Building Automation Specialist II to support HVAC Building Automation System (BAS) start-up, commissioning, troubleshooting, and field engineering activities throughout the Morrisville, NC area. This position requires strong technical experience, excellent communication skills, and a desire to grow into a senior BAS expert.

What You Will Do

  • Start up and commission complex HVAC Building Automation Systems, leveraging team members for collaboration, training, and knowledge sharing.
  • Provide sketches, field markups, and as-built documentation to support engineering updates and drawing corrections.
  • Deliver start-up, checkout, and commissioning documentation to installation and operations teams.
  • Review and verify graphical user interfaces for Building Automation Systems during commissioning.
  • Participate in online, classroom, and hands-on training to continue developing and expanding technical proficiency.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, controls, and HVAC issues in the field, ensuring complete and accurate system functionality.

What Qualifications Will Make You Successful

Education

  • Completion of a two-year technical program or an associate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, HVAC Technology, or a related field.

Experience & Technical Skills

  • 3+ years of experience in BAS, controls, or related technical fields.
  • Solid knowledge of power wiring, including motor starters, contactors, VFDs, and control relays.
  • Strong understanding of commercial and light industrial HVAC systems, including:
    • Chilled water and hot water loops
    • Constant and Variable Air Volume (CAV/VAV) systems
    • Air handling units
    • VAV and fan-powered VAV terminals
  • 3+ years of experience reading, interpreting, and using wiring schematics, equipment diagrams, and control drawings.
  • 3+ years of troubleshooting experience in electrical, controls, and HVAC systems.
  • Strong computer proficiency, including the ability to load, set up, and run hardware and software applications.
  • Solid networking knowledge, including:
    • IP addressing and IP networking basics
    • BACnet over IP and MS/TP
    • Instance ID structures
  • Working knowledge of integration protocols such as BACnet, Echelon, and Modbus.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Visio for documentation and reporting.
