Position Summary:

The Safety Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring workplace safety programs to protect employees, contractors, and visitors from occupational hazards. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations, conducts inspections and investigations, delivers safety training, and collaborates with management to identify and eliminate workplace risks while promoting continuous improvement in safety performance.

Essential Functions:

  • Conduct daily plant safety inspections and facility walkthroughs
  • Perform safety inspections and compliance audits
  • Investigate workplace incidents and recommend corrective actions
  • Deliver new hire and ongoing employee safety training
  • Coordinate annual safety training programs
  • Lead Safety Committee meetings
  • Coordinate emergency response drills (spill, evacuation, blackout, shelter)
  • Maintain OSHA and other regulatory documentation and reports
  • Support workers' compensation administration and regulatory compliance
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • No direct or indirect supervisory responsibilities

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and EHS best practices
  • Hazard Communication (HazCom), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Machine Guarding
  • Forklift safety, Fall Protection, Confined Space, Respiratory Protection
  • Electrical safety, PPE, Emergency Action Plans, Fire Prevention, Ergonomics
  • Incident investigation, risk assessment, training delivery, and regulatory compliance
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Japanese or Spanish (strongly preferred) to facilitate seamless training and communication across all operational levels.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

Education and Experience:

  • Vocational/Technical/Business school or equivalent
  • 3–5 years of occupational safety experience in manufacturing, industrial, or construction environments
  • Experience conducting inspections, audits, investigations, risk assessments, and safety training

Work Environment & Travel:

  • Manufacturing/industrial environment with periodic office work
  • Occasional travel between company facilities for inspections, audits, and emergency drills

Physical Requirements: 

  • Frequent standing, walking, hearing, talking, and eye/hand coordination
  • Occasional sitting and lifting
  • Occasional exposure to heat, temperature changes, noise, and manufacturing environment
