Test & Validation Senior Associate Engineer

Electric Drive Development

Mossville, IL - Tech Center, Building G

The Electric Drive Development Senior Associate Engineer – Test/Validation performs lab testing of advanced drivetrain components and systems at the Caterpillar Technical Center as part of new product development programs or continuous product improvement projects.

Electric drivetrain development is an exciting job opportunity, with continued technology expansion to new product lines.  Future electric drive programs will continue to provide customers with machines that do more work and consume less fuel, while providing customers with lower owning and operating costs.

What you will do

  • Work with product design team to define validation requirements.

  • Prepare of components for lab testing.

  • Perform lab tests to validate components from a performance and product quality perspective.

  • Identify, troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues

  • Analyze test data.

  • Communicate results and conclusions.

  • Document findings in technical reports.

Degree Requirement

  • Bachelor’s degree in accredited Engineering or Materials Science curriculum desired.

Skills you must have

  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Basic understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.

  • Analytical Thinking: Working knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.

  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Basic knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

  • Effective Communications: Working knowledge of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

  • Technical Excellence: Basic knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.

  • Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve
    project objectives.

  • Product Testing: Working knowledge of product testing approaches, techniques and tools; ability to design, plan and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure product quality at all stages of manufacturing.

  • Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing or product development environment.

Top candidates will also have

  • Previous electric drive product development experience (design, test, or analysis).

  • Experience with data analysis tools

  • Experience with data acquisition systems

Additional Information

  • This position will close at 11:59 p.m. on 06/17/2026.

  • This position will be located onsite 5 days a week in Mossville, IL (Tech Center - Building G).

  • Domestic relocation is available.

  • VISA Sponsorship is NOT available.

  • Travel requirements will be up to 10%

Summary Pay Range:

$89,210.00 - $133,810.00
