Packaging Operator I operates a range of manual packaging equipment to package material for shipment.Â
Â
Responsibilities:Â
Â

Operates one or more of the following types of equipment: filler, OMW, sewing machine or glue closure, or stacker. Â

Set-up equipment, perform daily inspections, and make minor adjustments to the equipment as necessary. Â

Ensures the process safely drives quality and production to standards/targets. Â
-
Samples packaged product to verify it meets standards.Â
-
Identifies non-conformance events, documents events and takes appropriate actions. Â
-
Periodically weighs product packages to ensure weight specifications are met. Â
-
Inspects supplies such as bags, bulk bags, and pallets to ensure useable quality and quantity levels are present and to inventory levels.   Â

Interacts with the computer systems for compliance, reporting, and machine set-up. Â
-
Observes all safety rules, regulations, and precautions. Â

Keeps areas clean and free of clutter. Â

Performs other duties as assigned.Â

Qualifications:Â Â
Education:Â Â

HS Diploma or equivalent. Â

Must meet the assessment requirements for this position.Â
Skills & Abilities:Â

Must be able to use technology to evaluate/communicate the status of the process/product and must pass computer literacy assessment.Â

Must be able to understand and act upon all safety and environmental requirements and other related communications.Â

Must be able to visually differentiate between products and be able to hear audible alarms, instructions, and commands. Â

Must be able to read and understand Bill of Lading.Â

Must be able to efficiently interact with and use computer systems.Â
-
Must be able to comprehend and follow quality management system.Â

Must be able to stand for the duration of the shiftÂ

Must be able to lift 60 pounds frequently—duration of shift if necessary. Must be able to lift 100 pounds with assistance. Â

Bending, reaching, twisting, stooping, walking, and climbing stairways and ladders frequentlyÂ
-
Must be able to climb ladders up to 110 feet. Â

Must be able to talk and hear radio communications as well as phone. Â
