Job DetailsJob Location: Mount Hermon, CA 95041Position Type: Summer StaffSalary Range: $327.00 - $408.00 SalaryTravel Percentage: Santa Cruz MountainsJob Shift: Conference Center Position Objective: The Summer Adventure/Recreation Team Lead will lead Summer Adventure/Recreation Guides in providing outstanding customer service on aerial adventure courses, climbing walls, archery, and any other supporting family recreation activities to provide a welcoming environment in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values. General Qualifications: The Summer Adventure/Recreation Team Lead is a Ministerial position. Ministerial staff render their work, stewardship, relationships and behavior as evidence of being followers of Jesus Christ while embracing and affirming Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) mission, vision and beliefs. They are responsible for defining, cultivating and leading MHA’s Christian community, conference programs, and retreats. Key Job Accountabilities: Provide leadership to Summer Adventure Recreation Guides through training, team building, scheduling, and meetings. Communicate with supervisor any staffing or programs needs or concerns. Provide instruction to guests regarding safety and operation of adventure and recreation programs to ensure safety and smooth operation of courses. Maintain and log all equipment inspections to ensure smooth operations. Perform any other duties as assigned by Supervisor. Supervisory Responsibilities: This position oversees and provides leadership to the following positions: Summer Adventure/Recreation Guides Part Time Adventure/Recreation Guides (if applicable) Education/Certifications/Licenses: High school graduate. Some college experience preferred. Must be CPR/First Aid certified. Work Experience: Prior experience with Adventure and Recreation activities in a professional teaching environment is preferred. Prior experience in rock climbing, challenge courses, knots, safety, and other related matters preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Emotionally mature and willing to accept responsibility. Ability to lead and teach with patience and clear instruction. Ability to work independently and be punctual. Ability to operate calmly and rationally in challenging and/or stressful situations. Superior interpersonal skills with people of all ages. Ability to articulate gospel of Jesus Christ as communicated in Scripture. Mature understanding and respect for authority and peers, as well as camp guidelines and principles. Ability to adjust and problem solve in challenging situations. ● Ability to engage in a variety of outdoor activities. Physical Demands: The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions Requires walking, sitting, and standing for 6-8 hrs/day. Requires ability to hear, speak and see clearly. Must be comfortable working in trees at heights exceeding 150 feet. Requires lifting and transporting 25-50 lbs. of gear and equipment up and down stairs Requires employee to ascend and/or descend ladders, stairs, cables, and trees using hands and feet. After training will have the ability to rescue a 250 lb. person from locations up to 150 feet above the ground using a variety of rescue techniques. Additional Requirements: Will be assigned a secondary role. Must be at least 18 years of age due to the requirement for onsite community living.
