Asphalt - Roller Operator A

Description:

Employee will be responsible for operating all asphalt rollers with a focus on finish rolling to achieve final surface smoothness and density. This position requires proficient operation of breakdown, intermediate, and finish rollers while coordinating with the entire paving crew. Employee will be experienced, safety-conscious, and work well in a team environment.

Overview of Responsibilities:

• Operates breakdown, intermediate, and finish rollers as needed to meet project specifications
• Performs finish rolling to achieve final surface smoothness and required density
• Adjusts rolling patterns, speed, and overlap for optimal compaction
• Performs daily pre-trip inspections, lubrication, and minor maintenance on all rollers
• Coordinates closely with Paver Operator, Screed Operators, and laborers
• Trains less-experienced roller operators
• Monitors mat temperature and prevents damage to fresh asphalt
• Participates in daily safety meetings and enforces safety rules

Qualifications:

• Proficient experience with all asphalt rollers and finish rolling
• 2+ years asphalt paving experience
• Strong knowledge of compaction techniques and density/smoothness standards
• Reliable transportation
• Safety awareness
• 40-65 hours/week availability
