Position: Senior Civil Highway Engineer/Department Manager

Reports to: Vice President


Responsibilities:

- Lead and/or conduct Civil Engineering design tasks including geometrics, profiles/grading, drainage/storm water management, soil erosion and sediment control, traffic signs and markings, maintenance, and protection of traffic.

- Prepare technical specifications, quantity and cost estimates, design, and construction schedules.

- Prepare design study reports and deliverables.

- Coordinate and deal directly with clients.

- Periodically organize and lead fieldwork effort with internal staff teams.

- Assist in developing design scope of work and associated fee estimates, and other business development efforts.

- Provide mentorship to Junior staff.

- Keeps current with design criteria and technology.

-Is proficient in software (engineering, drafting, administrative) required to complete assigned projects.

Requirements

Educational and Experience Requirements:

- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) required; master’s degree preferred.

- Professional Engineer (PE) license in both New York and/or New Jersey required.

- 8-12 years of progressive experience in civil design for highway/roadway and site improvements including the use of CADD and related computer design software.

- Proficient in applying Design Manuals in use by various governmental agencies.


Pay transparency:

- Base salary is $120,000 to $140,000 per year.

- Reimbursement of relocation expenses will be provided to individuals who meet eligibility requirements.


General Qualities:

- Strong verbal and written skills are required. Is a proactive self-starter.

- Provides technical support.

- Can accomplish assigned tasks independently with guidance from their supervisor.

- Capable of developing solutions to problems.

  

Physical Requirements:

- Ability to sit at a desk for extended periods (often 6–8 hours a day).

- Maintaining posture while working at a computer.

- Short periods of standing or walking within the office (to printers, meeting rooms, etc.).
