Quality Engineer
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Engineer to support the development, manufacturing, inspection, and delivery of aerospace and defense products. The Quality Engineer will be responsible for ensuring products and processes meet customer, regulatory, contractual, and internal quality requirements.
The ideal candidate has experience with aerospace/defense quality systems, strong problem-solving skills, and a working knowledge of standards such as AS9100, ISO 9001, FAA requirements, and applicable customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality plans, procedures, and inspection requirements for aerospace and defense products.
- Support compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, customer requirements, and applicable government/regulatory standards.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and manufacturing documentation to identify quality requirements.
- Perform root-cause analysis and lead corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Investigate nonconforming material and product issues and support material review board (MRB) activities.
- Develop and maintain FMEA, Control Plans, inspection plans, process flow diagrams, and other quality documentation.
- Support first article inspection (FAI) activities in accordance with AS9102.
- Analyze quality data, identify trends, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, Program Management, and Inspection teams to resolve quality issues.
- Participate in internal, customer, supplier, and regulatory audits.
- Evaluate supplier quality performance and assist with supplier corrective actions.
- Support process validation, qualification, and production readiness activities.
- Establish and monitor key quality metrics, including defect rates, yield, scrap, rework, and customer escapes.
- Review and disposition nonconforming products in accordance with approved procedures.
- Develop inspection methods and acceptance criteria in collaboration with engineering and manufacturing teams.
- Ensure appropriate configuration control and traceability of aerospace/defense hardware and documentation.
- Promote a culture of quality, accountability, risk management, and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 3+ years of quality engineering or manufacturing quality experience, preferably within aerospace, defense, automotive, medical device, or other highly regulated industries.
- Working knowledge of AS9100 and AS9102 requirements.
- Experience with root-cause analysis and corrective action methodologies such as Fishbone.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, and inspection requirements.
- Experience with statistical and quality tools, including SPC and process capability analysis.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with government requirements, or other aerospace customer/regulatory requirements.
- Quality certification such as ASQ CQE, CQA, or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt..
- Experience supporting first article inspections and production qualification activities.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP and quality management systems.
- Experience working with defense contracts, government customers, or controlled technical data.

The salary range for this position is $95,000-$125,000. Aerosphere Power & Navigation also offers a variety of benefits, including health and disability insurance, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, EAP, education assistance, parental leave, paid time off, and company-paid holidays.
