Wartburg is seeking an experienced, clinically strong Director of Nursing (RN) to lead our 50-bed Skilled Nursing Facility specializing in post-acute rehabilitation. This leadership role is ideal for an engaged, visible, and collaborative nursing professional who is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care, developing high-performing teams, and driving clinical and operational excellence.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead all nursing operations for a 50-bed skilled nursing and post-acute rehabilitation facility.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee quality improvement initiatives and survey readiness.
  • Manage and optimize the MDS process to support reimbursement and clinical outcomes.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop nursing leadership and staff.
  • Supervise the Nurse Manager, Evening Supervisor, and Night Supervisor.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and referral partners to support excellent clinical outcomes and census growth.
  • Monitor quality metrics and implement strategies to improve resident care and reduce rehospitalizations.
  • Lead effectively within a unionized environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

 

Education and Licensure

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; BSN required, MSN preferred.
  • Current license as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN) in the State of New York.

Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive nursing leadership experience.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in assisted living, long-term care, or a related geriatric healthcare setting.
  • Experience managing memory care or dementia-specific programs strongly preferred.
