Overview

The Newark, NJ office of Lewis Brisbois, a full-service AmLaw 100 firm, is looking for a highly detail-oriented Rate Analyst with Aderant experience to join our team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with attorneys, department leadership, and cross-functional teams to manage, analyze, and maintain accurate client and matter rate structures on a national scale. The Rate Analyst will support the firm’s attorney rate-setting process, billing rates, rate reporting, and matter-level rate analysis. The ideal candidate will have strong critical thinking and analytical skills, advanced Excel capabilities, and an understanding of law-firm billing and financial data.

 

This is a full-time position supporting the firm nationwide.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the attorney rate-setting process, including annual rate increases, client rate increases, and enforcement of Firm minimum rates.
  • Maintain accurate attorney and client rate information across Firm systems, including the Firm’s Relationship Partner and rate agreement repositories.
  • Analyze historical attorney billing rates and prepare rate reports and related analyses for Relationship Partners, Finance, Firm Management, and the Rate Committee.
  • Support the Rate Committee process, including preparation and maintenance of rate information, reports, documentation, and materials required for Rate Committee review and approval.
  • Ensure compliance with Firm and Rate Committee policies, procedures, and established rate processes, and maintain accurate documentation of approved rates and rate agreements.
  • Research and respond to rate-related inquiries from partners and Firm personnel, providing guidance on rate processes, policies, and approved rates.
  • Oversee client rate increases, ensuring appropriate approvals are obtained and Firm minimum rates and Rate Committee requirements are enforced.
  • Identify discrepancies in billing and rate data, coordinate corrections, and work with Finance, Accounting, Billing, and other departments to resolve data issues.
  • Support special rate projects, reporting initiatives, and other rate-related activities as needed.

Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of law firm rates, and legal billing systems; experience with Aderant Expert Rates preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage, analyze, and interpret large datasets.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and departments and communicate rate-related information clearly to partners and Firm personnel.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • At least 3 years of related professional experience preferred.
