Position Summary:

Responsible for completing routine tasks and assignments relative to the support of plant operations on components, parts, equipment, and systems.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to the following):


* Ability to perform boilermaker work which includes opening and closing vessels, bolting piping and valves, performing hydros on piping systems, and installing steam tracing/traps. 

* Experience in x-ray certified pipe welds with stick and tig welding, along with structural welding of platforms, pipe supports, brackets, etc. a plus. 

* Measure, cut, and fit pipe for welding.

* Read blueprints and create isometric drawings as required. 

* Execute work assignments in accordance with approved procedures, work orders, or supervisory direction, adhering to all safety requirements. 

* Follows appropriate standard operating procedures as guidelines for operating and maintaining equipment.

* Effectively communicate ongoing status of work and address concerns to supervision. 

* Immediately report defects, deficiencies, or anomalies within the facility to supervision and follow the corrective action protocol.

* Provide management with recommendations for corrective action, policies, and process improvements. 

* Accurately document work/performance history (aids in facility configuration management), including equipment logs that record performance problems, repairs, calibrations, and retests as applicable.

* Complete documentation of work assignments in a real time manner to aid in the configuration management of the facility.

* Initiate changes to existing procedures.

* Comply with all operational, industrial, hazardous, and radiological postings, standards, and expectations.

* Practice job site safety and ensure equipment is left in a safe condition during an intermission in the performance of work.

* Perform routine housekeeping activities and spill cleanups.

* Fill in for supervisor (applicable to those with appropriate experience/knowledge).



Job Qualifications (refers to job, not incumbent):  

 High School Diploma required along with a minimum of 4-6 years' experience in related field.

* Must have mechanical aptitude including aptitude in math, science, and computers.

* Must be able to work at heights.

* Must be able to work an on-call schedule.

* Knowledge of mechanical or technical processing in a heavy equipment or heavy industrial setting.

* Exhibits high standards, questioning attitude, conservative decision-making, and striving for excellence in all aspects of the job.

* Good teamwork skills and strong personal integrity. Accountable for own actions and actions of others under their direct responsibility.

* Effective verbal and written communication skills.

* Ability to understand and utilize drawings, vendor technical information, and procedures to perform work.

* Ability to utilize facility computers and databases to obtain information necessary to support work.

* Basic knowledge of the use of hand tools.

* Exercise good judgment and professionalism in the conduct of work to assure equipment availability/reliability and that the plant will operate safely.

* Ability to communicate effectively via radio.
