The Google Home Camera team is looking for an Android Engineer to help build the next generation of smart home security experiences. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and launching high-visibility features that allow millions of users to monitor their homes in real-time. You will work within a modern Android stack (Kotlin, Jetpack Compose) to build responsive, performant, and accessible interfaces. This is an ideal role for an engineer who is passionate about mobile craftsmanship, performance optimization, and creating seamless user experiences for complex hardware-integrated software.

The Google Home team focuses on hardware, software and services offerings for the home, ranging from thermostats to smart displays. The Home team researches, designs, and develops new technologies and hardware to make users’ homes more helpful. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $147,000-$211,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities:

  • Write product or system development code.
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
