Position Overview

 

This role will report to the Assistant Controller to assist in the financial statement close and reconciliation processes, as well as supervise the accurate accounting for fixed assets and leases. Seeking an open-minded, driven and technically sound individual to challenge the status quo and who is also passionate about elevating the tax function within an organization. 

 

 

Position Details

Work Environment:

At Duluth Trading Company, we value face-to-face interactions that foster our culture of learning, creativity, and teamwork. The role is based at our headquarters near Madison, WI. You will work in the office Monday through Thursday, with the option to work from home on Fridays if you prefer.

 

What You’ll Do: 

  • Assist in the month-end close, including the preparation of complex schedules and journal entries.
  • Analyze financial statement results to understand business trends.
  • Complete certain complex monthly reconciliations.
  • Ensure the accuracy of the fixed asset ledgers and the corresponding monthly depreciation calculation.
  • Review monthly reconciliations of all fixed assets general ledger balances.
  • Supervise the execution of monthly lease payments.
  • Assist the Assistant Controller in preparing necessary schedules to support year-end and quarterly external audit procedures.
  • Maintain effective control procedures over all aspects of the tax process in accordance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
  • Perform ad hoc reporting, analysis, and project work as requested by management.
  • Provide feedback to management regarding internal and external processes to enhance efficiencies in accounting processes.
  • Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
    • Equivalent work experience will be considered
  • 5+ years of experience
  • 1+ years of management experience
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel and Word skills
  • Detail oriented with high level of accuracy
  • Ability to streamline processes and create efficiencies
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship. 

Physical Environment & Travel Expectations:

  • Travel is required for less than 10% of company-related meetings, programs, and/or events
  • Sitting is required for 90% of working hours
  • Standing is required for 10% of working hours
  • Continuous arm, hand, and wrist movement (ie: typing)
  • Occasional reaching, twisting, and bending
  • Noise level no greater than casual conversation
  • Ability to perform work in cubicle workstations or an office setting
  • Work in temperatures ranging from 65 - 75 degrees

Position Compensation Outline 

Compensation Range: $70,000 to $100,000/year 

This position is eligible to participate in the company bonus program.
