Under the direction of the Under

Under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer is responsible for supervising and assisting in the daily clinical management for the unit(s) of the assigned shift, to accomplish the specific unit/department objectives.聽

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Maintains quality services through consistent application of policies, procedures, protocols and standards of care.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Clinical resources and support for staff.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Identifies problems related to the functioning of the unit, recommends solutions, and takes corrective action to resolve them.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Coordinates patient placement in and out of unit.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Creates and maintains a work environment conducive to effective communication, team building and professionalism.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Assesses and arranges staffing for unit.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Provides effective input into hiring, termination, discipline, assignment, and evaluation of work for employees.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Participates in orientation of new employees.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Monitors and assures availability of unit supplies.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Communicates and collaborates with staff members, management, physicians, other units and departments regarding patient and quality care issues.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Completes evaluations on employees working in this Unit.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Participates in non-direct patient-care activities including Hospital committees/task forces, quality improvement, and research, educational and other related activities.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate books, journals, and other literature.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Participates in supervisory duties as required, i.e., helping with relief of open shifts, on-call alternating holidays.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Staff Education - input and/or coordination of unit in-services.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Coaches staff to develop stronger decision-making skills.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Work to improve patient care standards within the area of responsibility.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Participates in immediate resolution of patient incidents and patient/family concerns.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Other duties as assigned.

Required:

  • Current RN license in the State of Michigan

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 At leastone (1) year of clinical experience in unit specialty

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Management experience

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Bachelor鈥檚 degree in Nursing or must be obtained within three (5) years of hire or transfer.Hired or transferred on or after January 1, 2024, must obtain within three (3) years of hire or transfer.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 BLS Certification

Preferred:

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Master鈥檚 degree in Nursing

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 ALS Certified

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 PALS Certification
