Position Summary: 

 The SANE Coordinator provides oversight of the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Program, including medical team and advocates, according to industry best standards, medical facility guidelines, quality assurance, and the Agency Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

1)      Recruits, coordinates training, and ensures the Sexual Assault Medical Team and Sexual Assault Advocates meet obligations of their roles while practicing within all federal and state regulatory requirements and accrediting bodies.

2)     Conducts medical forensic exams for survivors of domestic and sexual violence.

3)     Ensures Sexual Assault Team member competencies are met; provides formal feedback at regular intervals.

4)     Serves as primary point of contact for Sexual Assault Medical Director; coordinates with the Executive Director to implement the Medical Director’s direction and vision in regards to medical aspects of the program.

5)     Develops and implements procedures and protocols for best practice and compliance with all regulatory and accrediting agencies.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Current State of Michigan licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • One (1) year experience in nursing in Emergency Department, Critical Care, Women’s Health, or Public Health
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Become SANE-A certified through IAFN within thirty-six (36) months following hire or transfer into this role.
  • Knowledge of domestic violence and sexual assault dynamics

Preferred: 

  • Three (3) or more years in progressively more complex medical settings, SANE-A certification, or midlevel PA-C/NP-C
