Machine Shop Quality Inspector

This role is part of our Hypersonics and Strategic Missile Defense business, which designs, develops, and delivers highly dependable missile systems for hypersonic and strategic missile defense missions. We provide integrated, mission-ready hardware that brings together multiple technologies into unified systems engineered to perform in demanding operational environments. Our tip-to-tail capabilities include payload protection and deployment systems, propulsion systems, aerodynamic interstage systems, separation systems, missile subsystems, shroud systems, launch systems, and payload integration solutions.

The Machine Shop Quality Inspector supports accurate, reliable product quality by programming coordinate measuring machines (CMMs), performing metrology-based inspections, documenting non‑conformances, and assisting the Quality Manager, engineering teams, and machinists with quality assurance activities. This role ensures machined components meet strict aerospace and defense requirements and contributes to consistent, high-quality manufacturing performance.

Responsibilities

  • Programs Hexagon CMM and Romer Arm using PC‑DMIS software and performs related inspections.
  • Creates part setup plans for CMM inspection.
  • Trains inspectors on running CMM programs.
  • Performs measurement inspection of parts, including AS9102 First Article Inspection.
  • Documents non‑conformances as identified.
  • Assists Quality Assurance with additional tasks as assigned.
  • Communicates effectively with inspectors, machinists, and engineering teams.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficiency with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Three or more years of experience programming Hexagon coordinate measuring machines (CMM) using PC‑DMIS software.
  • Experience working within AS9100 or equivalent quality systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Epicor enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.
