Project Manager Trainee  – Building Envelope Consulting

This is an in-person, Washington-based, part-time training role in the building envelope consulting industry. This is not a remote or full-time project management position.

J2 Building Consultants is seeking a Project Manager Trainee to support our Project Management team. This role is designed for individuals who are early in their project management journey and are interested in developing the skills needed to grow into a Project Manager I (PM1) role over time.

You’ll work closely with experienced Project Managers, gaining hands-on exposure to building envelope consulting projects and learning how work moves from site observations to final deliverables.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Learn the Project Lifecycle

Support active projects from planning through execution by assisting with coordination, documentation, and follow-up tasks.

Support Project Coordination

• Help schedule site visits and inspections
• Assist with organizing project files, notes, and photos
• Support coordination between internal teams, clients, and contractors
  
  

Participate in Field Work

Attend site visits to observe conditions, document progress, and learn how consultants evaluate building envelope systems.

Build Reporting Skills

• Assist with compiling site observations
• Help prepare draft documentation and internal reports
• Learn how technical information is translated into clear recommendations
  
  

Learn Through Mentorship

Work under the guidance of experienced Project Managers who will provide direction, feedback, and on-the-job training.

This is a training role, not an independent project management position.

This role is intended to prepare individuals for potential advancement into a Project Manager I (PM1) role upon meeting experience, performance, and business-need requirements. Advancement is not guaranteed and will be evaluated based on readiness and available openings.
