Job DetailsJob Location: Mukwonago YMCA - Mukwonago, WI 53149Position Type: Part TimeSalary Range: $12.00 HourlyGENERAL FUNCTIONS: Under the direction of the Fitness Director, the Fitness Attendant is responsible for overall fitness center oversight as well as fitness equipment instruction and equipment orientations.  This position is also responsible for general cleanliness and safety of the fitness floor.     ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:  Create, facilitate, and maintain a welcoming, safe, and professional environment on the fitness floor.  Instruct and assist members in proper equipment usage to help attain their personal fitness goals.  Maintain a safe, clean, and fun fitness floor atmosphere. Interact with members regularly during shift to ensure questions are answered and that members are aware of additional resources such as branch programs and classes available.       Inspect and ensure high standards of maintenance, cleanliness, and repair of fitness equipment. Daily cleaning of equipment is required. Report all maintenance issues promptly and as directed.    Adhere and enforce all YMCA policies, procedures, and guidelines. Act as a positive role model using the YMCA’s core values of honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility. QualificationsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent required and must be at least 18 years of age.   A degree or background in fitness, physical education, or related field is preferred, along with basic understanding of strength and cardiovascular training. Experience working in a fitness/wellness center preferred. Must be able to redirect members in situations where fitness floor protocol is not being adhered to.  Must possess enthusiasm, self-direction, and excellent communication and people skills.  First aid and CPR/AED certification required within 60 days of hire.
