IT MANAGER - TREWHELAS'S SCHOOL CHILE

 

LOCATION: Providencia/Chicureo, Chile

 

JOB PURPOSE

Responsible for developing and implementing IT strategies and policies to align with organizational goals. The role involves managing IT projects to ensure timely delivery, overseeing infrastructure such as hardware, software, servers, networks, and monitoring system performance and security to maintain compliance. Additionally, the IT Manager leads the recruitment, training, and performance management of IT staff, maintains disaster recovery and business continuity plans, and manages budgets and vendor contracts to optimize resources and ensure smooth technology operations.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Technology Operations & Support

• Oversee day-to-day functioning of the school’s technology infrastructure, including networks, servers, Wi-Fi, classroom technology, and administrative systems.

• Provide timely, high-quality technical support to faculty, staff, and students.

• Manage device deployment and maintenance (laptops, tablets, projectors, interactive displays, printers, etc.)

• Ensure smooth operation of learning management systems (LMS), student information systems (SIS), and other school software.

 

Network & Systems Management

• Maintain secure and efficient network, firewall, and wireless infrastructure.

• Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls

• Oversee system updates, backups, and data recovery processes.

• Implement cybersecurity best practices and respond to security incidents.

 

Technology Planning & Strategy

• Collaborate with school leadership to develop and implement a long-term technology plan.

• Evaluate new technologies to support innovative teaching and operational efficiency.

• Manage technology-related vendor relationships, contracts, and service agreements.

• Plan and oversee technology budgets and purchasing.

 

Training & Collaboration

• Provide training, workshops, and resources to help faculty effectively integrate educational technology.

• Communicate clearly and proactively with administrators, teachers, and staff.

• Support technology use during school events, testing, and assemblies

 

Compliance & Policies

• Maintain compliance with privacy laws and regulations (GDPR, PCI, etc.)

• Develop and update technology policies, acceptable use guidelines, and cybersecurity protocols.

• Ensure consistent data protection and secure handling of student information.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field

• Must be intermediate / advanced level English

• 3+ years of experience in IT administration or management

• Strong knowledge of networking, Windows/Mac OS, Microsoft 365, and cloud-based systems

• Experience managing user support in a multi-device environment

• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills

• Ability to work in a school environment with patience, flexibility, and professionalism

 

Preferred

• Experience in K–12 education or a similar academic setting

• Familiarity with SIS/LMS platforms (e.g., Blackbaud, Veracross, Canvas, PowerSchool)

• Certifications such as CompTIA Network+/Security+, Microsoft, or equivalent

• Experience managing technology budgets and vendor relationships
