Job Title:  Utility / Site Work Estimator

Position Type:  Full-time, Exempt, 1st Shift, paid weekly

Location:  Cleves, Ohio (on site) – Must be with reasonable driving distance of 45002

Reports to:  Executive Management

Job Summary

The Utility/Site Work Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for site development, excavation, underground utility, and civil construction projects. This position reviews project plans and specifications, performs quantity takeoffs, solicits subcontractor and supplier pricing, and develops comprehensive bid proposals to support successful project acquisition.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review project plans, specifications, and bid documents.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs for excavation, grading, utilities, paving, and related site work activities.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates including labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and overhead costs.
  • Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations.
  • Analyze project risks, site conditions, and construction requirements.
  • Prepare bid packages and assist in proposal development.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as required.
  • Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, and company leadership during the bidding process.
  • Maintain estimating databases, cost histories, and production rates.
  • Assist with project hand-off meetings following contract award.
  • Monitor market pricing trends and supplier relationships.
  • Ensure estimates comply with company standards and project specifications.

 

Qualifications

  • Experience in civil construction, utility construction, site development, or related estimating preferred.
  • Knowledge of excavation, grading, underground utilities, storm drainage, paving, and site infrastructure.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and contracts.
  • Proficiency with estimating software, spreadsheets, and construction management tools.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.

 

 Education and Experience

  • 3 years of prior estimating experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of construction related software and OSHA regulations.
  • Proficient in Bluebeam and Microsoft Office software
  • AutoCAD software experience a plus
