SUMMARY
. The Fixed Maintenance Supervisor will have direct oversight of staff and preventive maintenance work of all surface and underground fixed equipment. Will report directly to the Fixed Maintenance Foreman.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Oversight of the execution of preventive maintenance, scheduled repairs and emergency repairs to Fixed Equipment Assets.
- Assist Fixed Maintenance Foreman when requested.
- Assume Foreman Duties when Foreman is not available.
- Manage and coordinate contract maintenance of the above equipment.
- Work closely with the planning department to ensure jobs are planned and scheduled correctly.
- Work closely with operations supervisors to meet the equipment maintenance needs of operations.
- Ensure maintenance mechanics are complying with the preventive maintenance schedule.
- Continuously seek ways to improve equipment maintenance.
- Work with Planning and Warehouse to ensure the right equipment spare parts are available when they need to be.
- Assist with the emergency maintenance of hoists, chillers, pumping systems, compressors and underground fixed plant infrastructure.
- Assign work orders to employees, set and maintain high standards for quality, quantity and safety of work performed.
- Follow up throughout the shift to ensure performance standards are being met.
- Participate in Risk Assessment activities as required.
- Participate in the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) as required.
- Inspect daily operations and projects in process and upon completion to ensure the quality and reliability of work performed.
- Complete required paperwork and CMMS entry, including shift reports, requests for materials, timecards, etc.
- Attends meetings as required, including training and department meetings.
- Directly supervises hourly maintenance department employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Lucky Friday’s policies, applicable laws, and the collective bargaining agreement. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or equivalent. Associate degree from a vocational or technical school preferred.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in maintenance.
- Experience in an underground mining environment.
- Good understanding of underground hard rock mining operations.
- Experience and working knowledge of underground hard rock mining equipment and the maintenance processes and procedures associated with this equipment.
- Must be computer literate and proficient in Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Prior supervisory experience preferred.
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
