SUMMARY 

Employees in Mine Support perform a variety of duties to support general mining and production activities.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Build Roads
    1. Cut down road to hard bottom.
    2. Spread road rock across road surface.
    3. Apply dust suppressant.
  • Repair Roads
    1. Grade roads to smooth them, pulling material in from the sides.
    2. Apply dust suppressant.
  • Dust suppression of roads as needed.
  • Follow established schedule to build and maintain roads.
  • Muck sump.
  • Tram sump muck.
  • Maintain and repair sprinkler systems.
  • Operate heavy equipment, including road grader.
  • Deliver supplies to underground mine crews, including loading and unloading of supplies.
  • Operate service equipment, loaders, fork lifts, and haul trucks underground.
  • Housekeeping: including tasks such as shoveling, picking up trash or debris, etc. to ensure a safe work area.
  • Operate hand and/or power tools to make minor repairs or for maintenance activities.
  • Perform equipment/facility inspection and minor maintenance.
  • Communicate using the squawker, station bells, work bells, pager phone, and leaky feeder radio.
  • Participate in Risk Assessment activities as required.
  • Participate in the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) as required.
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in the workplace.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Basic computer skills preferred.  
  • Proven safe work record required.  
  • Excellent attendance history required.  
  • Willingness to work in team-based environment required.
