MAJOR FUNCTION:
Performs specimen processing for all reference laboratories according to department standards in a timely, accurate, and professional manner. Performs phlebotomy and order entry for the outpatient laboratory services. Maintains open and accurate communications pertaining to laboratory services, with health care providers and patients. In addition, may be requested to perform inpatient phlebotomy duties. Excellent listening and communication skills are essential.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:Â
- High School or equivalent.
- Graduate of an approved Phlebotomy training school preferred.
- 3 years of hospital and reference laboratory specimen processing experience preferred.
- 3 year of phlebotomy experience preferred.
Certification/ Licensure:
- ASCP or equivalent, certified, or eligible, required.
- Certification must be achieved within 12 months after hire date.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Excellent listening and communication skills are essential.  Â
