Equipment Operator/Laborer

Are you an experienced equipment operator who knows that getting the job done takes more than sitting in a machine all day?

We are hiring a dependable Heavy Equipment Operator for full-time, year-round civil construction, utility, concrete, dirt work, and paving projects throughout the central PA area.

This is not a “sit in an air-conditioned cab and watch everyone else work” position. Our crews work together. That means operating equipment when needed, getting out to help the crew when needed, grabbing a shovel, helping with pipe, assisting with layout, and doing whatever it takes to keep the job moving safely and efficiently.

If you are looking to only run a machine and never touch the ground, this is not the team for you.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Operate excavators, loaders, backhoes, skid steers, rollers, dozers, and other heavy equipment as assigned
  
• Perform trenching, grading, backfilling, excavation, site prep, and material handling
  
• Support underground utility installation including water, sewer, storm sewer, manholes, inlets, and related sitework
  
• Assist with dirt work, concrete work, paving, labor duties, and general jobsite support as needed
  
• Work safely around existing underground utilities and active construction areas
  
• Read grade stakes, follow directions from foremen, and help maintain production on the jobsite
  
• Perform daily equipment inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns
  
• Travel to assigned project locations as needed
  
• Work as part of a crew and step in wherever help is needed
  

Requirements

• Experience operating heavy equipment in heavy civil, sitework, excavation, utilities, paving, or related construction work
  
• Strong excavator experience is highly preferred
  
• Experience digging around existing utilities is a major plus
  
• Underground utility, pipe crew, pipefitting, water, sewer, or storm work experience is a huge plus
  
• Ability and willingness to work outside of the machine when the crew needs help
  
• Must not be afraid of physical work, shoveling, laboring, or working alongside the crew
  
• Safety-minded, dependable, punctual, and able to take direction
  
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced field environment where every day may be different
  
• Must be able to pass a background check due to work performed at SCI Muncy and other secure facilities
  
• Must be comfortable occasionally working in and around a correctional-facility environment
  
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred
