About the Role:

The Lathe Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining manual and/or CNC lathes to manufacture precision parts according to engineering drawings and specifications. This position requires attention to detail, a commitment to quality, and adherence to all safety standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience operating manual and/or CNC lathes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments.
  • Basic understanding of machining practices, tooling, speeds, and feeds.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and organizational skills..

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CNC programming experience.
  • Experience with G-code editing and machine setup.
  • Forklift and overhead crane experience.
  • Technical or vocational training in machining or manufacturing.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate manual and/or CNC lathes to produce precision-machined parts.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
  • Select and install appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and materials.
  • Monitor machine operations and make adjustments to maintain product quality and dimensional accuracy.
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and dial indicators.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and report equipment issues as needed.
  • Maintain accurate production and quality records.
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Keep work area clean and organized using 5S and good housekeeping practices.
  • Collaborate with supervisors, quality personnel, and team members to meet production goals.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Frequently lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Perform repetitive hand and arm movements.
  • Bend, stoop, reach, and climb as required.
  • Work safely in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, machinery, and metalworking fluids.

Work Schedule

  • Full-time
  • Overtime and weekend work may be required based on production needs.
