About the Role:

The Weld Parts Cleaner-Grinder plays a critical role in ensuring the quality and finish of welded components by meticulously cleaning and grinding welds to meet precise specifications. This position requires a keen eye for detail to identify imperfections and apply appropriate techniques to smooth and prepare parts for subsequent manufacturing stages or final assembly. The role contributes directly to the overall product integrity and safety by removing excess material, slag, and other welding residues. The successful candidate will work closely with welding and quality assurance teams to maintain high standards and support production efficiency. This position demands consistent adherence to safety protocols and the ability to work with various hand and power tools in a manufacturing environment.

2nd shift receives a 10% shift differential rate

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in welding support, metal fabrication, or a related manufacturing role.
  • Ability to safely operate grinding and cleaning tools.
  • Basic understanding of welding processes and terminology.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and handle manual tasks involving hand tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in welding inspection or metal finishing.
  • Experience working in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with safety standards such as OSHA regulations.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings or blueprints.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect welded parts for defects, slag, and excess material that require cleaning or grinding.
  • Operate grinding machines, hand grinders, and other tools to smooth weld seams and prepare parts for finishing.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with welders and quality control personnel to meet production standards and specifications.
  • Perform routine maintenance on grinding equipment and report any malfunctions or safety concerns.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Document work performed and report progress or issues to supervisors as required.
