This crucial role supports the safe delivery of large-scale industrial construction projects and works closely with project managers, project engineers, field supervision, craft professionals, and company operations leaders. You will be part of a top-performing project team and contribute directly to maintaining BMWC’s strong safety culture.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Safety Specialist II, you will:

  • Assist Project Managers, Project Engineers and Field Supervision with safety-related tasks and initiatives.
  • Conduct safety training as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, company, and customer safety policies and procedures on project.
  • Conduct field safety audits and support corrective action follow-up.
  • Train and educate location management and field personnel on safety responsibilities, behaviors, and accident prevention techniques.
  • Assist with incident investigations and support the development of corrective actions.
  • Work with local leadership and field personnel to identify potential hazards and implement appropriate controls.
  • Partner with other contractors and the client to address safety concerns and reinforce safe work practices.
  • Assist in preparing and conducting weekly safety toolbox talks.
  • Travel and work on construction projects throughout the U.S. as needed.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety or equivalent years of experience in construction safety.
  • Minimum of 3 years of safety experience in a construction, industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • OSHA 510 and OSHA 10 certifications preferred.
  • NCCER certification preferred.

This highly visible position is part of the Safety department and reports to the Corporate EH&S Director. You will have frequent interaction with the Construction department and regular interaction with the Executive and Operations Leadership Teams, as well as, vendors and all levels of internal and field staff.
