Responsible for the dispatch of transportation equipment in accordance with the Linehaul plan. Adheres to Linehaul schedules and supports efforts to maximize capacity, minimize partial trailer loads and ensure service integrity for assigned areas.

Essential Functions

  • In accordance with the Linehaul plan, executes the dispatch of transportation equipment.
  • Ensures Linehaul dispatch and arrival rules are followed according to defined Company procedures.
  • Dispatches cargo shipments to maximize the trailer volume while meeting package delivery obligations.
  • Enters dispatch events into an online system (TMS) to ensure on time delivery and pick up of trailers.
  • Verifies the location of equipment in the dispatch system by completing yard inventories.
  • Verifies the load/unload status of trailers by completing yard checks. Timely reports missing equipment.
  • Follows and communicates safety initiatives to ensure a safety-conscious culture.
  • Investigates and reports schedule delays, accidents and equipment failures and implements contingency plans which ensure on-time load delivery in the event of an en-route breakdown or accident.
  • Reviews and communicates Department of Transportation (DOT) roadside violations to management.
  • Compiles data and provides various regular and adhoc reports to management for review and determination.
  • Assists management with Business Control Self Assessment (BCSA) audit activity by retrieving data and/or files for review.
  • Reviews trailer load condition reports (TLCR’s) to ensure proper completion.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Minimum Experience

  • Dispatch experience preferred.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills necessary to work in a fast-paced team environment, handling various tasks and changing priorities, while maintaining a high attention to detail and accuracy to achieve daily assignments and goals
  • Verbal and written communication skills necessary to communicate with various audiences. Ability to work productively in team environment and effectively implement operational processes
  • Knowledge of concepts, practices, procedures and transportation regulations used in Linehaul field operations, including DOT regulations
  • Software skills, including use of Microsoft Office software and web-based applications
