Position Summary
The Assistant Manager oversees daily clinical support and administrative operations within all locations of the Laboratory. This role supervises clinical and clerical staff, coordinates workflows, and supports efficient patient care and office operations. The position ensures compliance with organizational policies and healthcare regulations while promoting high standards of customer service, documentation accuracy, and operational efficiency.

Primary Responsibilities
- Supervise clinical support and clerical staff, providing guidance to ensure efficient daily operations.
- Coordinate patient flow, scheduling activities, and administrative workflows to support timely service delivery.
- Support onboarding, training, and development of staff to promote consistency and operational effectiveness.
- Monitor clinical and administrative documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
- Assist providers and leadership with coordination of patient care activities and departmental operations.
- Address routine administrative or patient concerns and escalate complex issues to the Practice Administrator or department leadership.
- Ensure staff adherence to organizational policies, safety procedures, and healthcare regulations including HIPAA and OSHA.
- Assist with maintaining necessary supplies, equipment, and resources to support daily operations.
- Promote a professional, patient-centered environment and support high standards of customer service.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall success of the department and organization.

Education & Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science required.
- 2–4 years of clinical laboratory experience required
- Prior lead or supervisory experience strongly preferred.

Skills & Competencies
- Knowledge of healthcare administrative and clinical support workflows.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to coordinate staff and manage multiple operational priorities.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.

- Work is primarily performed in a clinical office setting and involves frequent telephone and in-person communication with patients and staff.
- The role involves continuous engagement and interaction with others and may involve occasional or frequent interruptions.
- The work environment reflects typical conditions found in a medical practice, including exposure to standard clinical equipment, patient interactions, and administrative workflows.
- There is potential exposure to common medical practice conditions, including communicable diseases, bodily fluids, and chemical substances.
- Physical demands include walking, bending, reaching, lifting up to 20 pounds, stooping, assisting patients, and prolonged periods of sitting.
- The position may also involve occasional stress due to multiple responsibilities and competing priorities.
