Job Summary 

The Dive Supervisor is the “Designated Person in Charge” (DPIC) of each assigned diving operation. The DPIC is responsible for planning and executing the diving operation, including ensuring the safety and health of the entire dive team.  They must adhere to and maintain strict compliance with corporate/office policies and procedures, established health and safety protocols, and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the safety of every member of the dive team.
  • Execution of field work encompassed diving operations, including underwater construction, maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
  • Correct completion of all job-specific, employee-related Mainstream Diving paperwork, including daily job reports, dive logs, JHAs, dive plans, and inspection results.
  • Understand and enforce the project’s detailed scope of work to maintain strict compliance with contract documents, project schedules, and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Effectively communicate job schedule, scope changes, safety concerns, and all other aspects of the job to management, dive team, and clients.
  • Work safely, and ensure the crew does so during all phases of job duties in the field.
  • Takes appropriate safety precautions, such as monitoring dive times and depths.
  • Ability to perform work inside areas of varying dimensions, involving squatting and crawling for possible extended periods.
  • Ability to follow directions; read/speak and understand English; read and understand dive plans.
  • The ability to safely drive and perform safety checks on all vehicles for which one is licensed.
  • Project work may require out-of-town travel for two weeks or more.
  • Must be able to understand and comply with company and client safety standards.
  • Due to the diversity of both scheduled and unscheduled projects, physical demands and environmental conditions vary significantly from project to project.
  • Work outside year-round in all types of weather.
  • May work in extreme environments, such as heat, cold, heights, hazardous chemicals, loud noises, dangerous equipment, and long hours.
  • May be exposed to varying levels of physical activity and physical extremes, such as long periods of standing, walking, crouching, hand use, and heavy lifting of up to 50 pounds or more.

Qualifications:

  • Requires a high school diploma or GED (or equivalent reading, writing, and reasoning skills).
  • At least 5 years in the diving industry with supervisory experience in some or all of the following industries/services:
    • Hydroelectric facility inspection and repair
    • Contaminated
    • Tug/ship/barge inspection and repair
    • Bridge inspection
    • FERC inspections
    • Marine/underwater construction 
    • Surface decompression
    • Underwater Cutting
    • Underwater Welding
    • Salvage Operations
    • Inland experience, including working in river current and from dive boats
    • Topside welding/fabrication
    • Strong leader
    • Mechanically inclined
    • Experience working with cranes and other heavy equipment
    • Knowledge of appropriate tool use and application.
    • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required. A CDL is a plus.
    • TWIC is required upon employment.
    •  Requires visual acuity to distinguish colors
    • Valid CPR First Aid, CPR, Oxygen Administration, and AED certification. Can be obtained upon employment.
    • Experience diving on hydroelectric dams is preferred
    • ADCI supervisor and diver card, and a fit-to-dive physical are required.
    • Successful completion of a pre-employment background and substance screening process, including, but not limited to, employment verifications, criminal search, and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) search, as well as continued verifications throughout employment to ensure that all records meet company policy standards.
