A Brief Overview
The Biomedical Equipment Technician maintains clinical equipment through the effective use of the Medical Equipment Management Plan, as guided by the Director of Clinical Engineering. Performs a variety of tasks associated with the installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of complex medical equipment.

What you will do

• Manages medical equipment assets through the inventory addition, deletion and verification process.

• Properly document medical equipment service records in the computerized medical equipment management system (CMMS) (MediMizer).

• Performs general repairs, calibrations, and preventive maintenance on medical devices using specialized test equipment.

• Completes assigned Preventive Maintenance (PM) within the scheduled month.

• Participates in the medical equipment emergency On-Call program.

• Effectively handles customer service issues. Responding to customers’ requests in a timely manner.

Education Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in biomedical Equipment Technology or Electronics Technology from a two-year college, technical school, or equivalent experience Required

Experience Qualifications

• 2 to 5 years of experience servicing medical equipment.

Skills and Abilities

• Basic knowledge of hand tools required

• Basic knowledge of test equipment required

• Basic knowledge of electricity/electronics required

• Knows how to use MS Office and other computer applications required

• Basic knowledge of types of medical equipment and medical terminology preferred

• Basic knowledge of electromechanical components preferred

• Knowledge of computers and networks preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician - Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation Preferred
