As a Registered Nurse Level IV, you will leverage your clinical expertise and leadership skills to develop and implement comprehensive care plans for patients. Additionally, you will serve as a mentor to fellow team members, providing guidance and support to ensure the highest standards of care on the unit.

2700 Unit at Unity Hospital –Nursing Excellence in Telemetry/Medsurg Patient-Centered Care

The 2700 Unit at Unity Hospital is a 22-bed, moderate-high acuity medical-surgical telemetry unit, specializing in complex care for patients with cardiac conditions and medical comorbidities. Like the 2600 Unit, it provides exceptional, patient-centered care to a diverse population with both acute and chronic conditions, making it an ideal environment for nurses and healthcare professionals looking to advance their clinical skills.

Key Features:

Patient Population:

  • Cardiac & Telemetry Care: For patients requiring close monitoring of acute cardiac conditions such as arrhythmias, and those needing continuous cardiac monitoring.
  • Complex Wound Care: Includes the management of wound vacs, pressure ulcers, and both acute and chronic wounds, offering nurses the chance to work with wound care specialists to develop advanced treatment skills.
  • Medication Management: Care for patients requiring drips such as Insulin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Heparin, and PCA for pain management.
  • Drug and Alcohol Withdrawal: Patients who require stabilization using the CIWA protocol and transition to rehabilitation.

Interdisciplinary Teamwork:

  • Nurses work collaboratively with physicians from various specialties, social workers, surgeons, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, and wound care experts.

This role is part of the Registered Nurse Level IV / Clinical Nurse IV must complete the following:

  • Complete the Clinical Ladder binder within 12 months of employment

  • Minimum of 5 activities in each Pillar (Leadership, Quality, and Organizational Contribution)

  • 15 Continuing education units (CEU's)

  • 20 Flex items

DEPARTMENT: Telemetry/Medical/Surgical Unit (2700)


SCHEDULE: Day/Evening/Night - Every other weekend / holiday

DESIRED ATTRIBUTES:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required.

  • Minimum of 6 months experience as a registered nurse.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assessment. Perform initial and ongoing assessment of the patient; demonstrate exceptional clinical judgment and advanced assessment skills; communicate and document assessment with interdisciplinary team; utilize all available resources in order to meet the needs of the patient and family
  • Planning & Implementation. Develop and document plan of care, treatment and services; collaborate interdisciplinary health team to deliver care; maintains an appropriate nurse-patient relationship and provides an exceptional experience for the patient and family
  • Evaluation & Education. Evaluate, communicate and document patient responses to care; revise plan of care based on ongoing evaluations; ensure the patient receives and understands education/training specific to their needs and abilities 
  • Training. Provide training for new team members on the unit; assume role of teacher for nursing students and other students shadowing on the unit; act as a resource for other team members for both clinical and non-clinical matters

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
