We are seeking a dedicatd and dynamic Early Childcare  Special Education Teacher. to join our team!

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's degree in education or special education.
  • Valid Michigan teaching certificate with endorsement in at least one area of Special Education
  • Minimum 3 years of prior experience teaching special needs to school aged children.
  • Patience and compassion for students with special needs
  • Knowledge of current special education topics and methodologies
  • Ability to assess student abilities and develop instructional plans
NATURE OF THE POSITION: As an Early Childhood Special Education Teacher, you will use your skills and experience to foster a nurturing learning environment that encourages social, emotional, and intellectual growth for all students. Teaching students with disabilities, providing individualized instruction and support to help them succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. They work with students who may have physical, mental, emotional, or learning disabilities, and collaborate with parents, general education teachers, and other support staff to develop and implement (IEPs)

 

RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION:

Accountability

  • Develop compliant Individualized Education Plans (IEP) that promote measurable student growth
  • Implement IEPs, assess students' performance, and track individual student progress
  • Update IEPs throughout the school year to reflect students' progress and goals
  • Assess students' skills to determine their individual needs to develop IEPs and lessons
  • Develop and analyze effectiveness of positive behavior intervention and support plans representative of the student's communication, social skills, and sensory needs
  • Ensure accommodation and supports are in place for state and district assessments
  • Supervise state and district assessments as indicated per IEPs
  • Use formative assessment data to adjust and modify instruction
  • Analyze progress reports to determine instructional effectiveness
  • Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet students' varying needs
  • Prepare students for transition to the next grade level
  • Manage classroom behavior and enforce rules and conduct standards

 

Communication

  • Effectively communicate student progress, in oral and written formats, with school, parent, and agency partners
  • Responsible for ensuring communication with staff, parents, and agency partners regarding meetings

Curriculum

  • Plan, organize, and assign activities that support growth towards student's IEP
  • Deliver instruction based upon differentiated curricular needs
  • Teach and mentor students as a class, in small groups, and one-on-one settings

Personnel

  • Supervise and mentor paraprofessionals who work within the classroom to support students with disabilities

Philosophy

  • Help provide a safe, learning environment

Scheduling

  • Develop and manage the creation and implementation of the service schedule for students with IEPs
  • Participate in meetings, workshops, and seminars to convey and/or gather information required of the position

Other responsibilities as assigned.
