The Village at The Oaks offers assisted living and memory care in a serene, park-like campus just minutes from downtown. As part of Trinity Health Senior Communities—a mission-driven, not-for-profit Catholic healthcare system—you’ll be joining a collaborative, compassionate team committed to enhancing residents’ well-being.

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager or Wellness Director, the Med Tech/Caregiver delivers medication and supportive daily care aligned with individual care plans. This dual role blends clinical duties with hands-on caregiving to ensure residents enjoy safety, dignity, and engagement.

Start your career off with an initial comprehensive 3-day training program that will get you up to speed in as little as 3 weeks with skills you will be able to use throughout your healthcare career.

Key Responsibilities

  • Medication Management
    • Administer oral/topical meds following physician orders and the “Five Rights” procedure
    • Maintain, reconcile, and audit Medication Administration Records (MARs)
    • Perform controlled substance counts and monitor expirations
  • Clinical Care & Monitoring
    • Take vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, weight) and conduct basic tests (e.g., blood glucose)
    • Provide wound care, record observations, and coordinate with nursing staff
  • Daily Living Assistance
    • Aid with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, transferring, mobility, and feeding
    • Support resident hydration and nutrition and facilitate meals
  • Environmental Care & Safety
    • Maintain tidy resident rooms, common areas, and ensure safety
    • Perform laundry, dishes, stock supplies, and general housekeeping duties
  • Engagement & Communication
    • Encourage participation in activities and spend quality one-on-one time with residents
    • Document care and changes in condition; report to nursing staff and communicate with families
  • Compliance & Documentation
    • Uphold HIPAA regulations and adhere to state/federal assisted living standards
    • Keep resident charts, medication logs, and temperature logs current

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Certified Medication Aide or Med Tech credential (state-specific certification)
  • Previous experience in assisted living, memory care, or geriatric care (1+ year preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology and medication administration protocols
  • Valid CPR/BLS certification
  • Ability to lift/transfers residents safely; physical stamina for standing and walking
  • Excellent communication skills; compassionate, respectful demeanor
